Claire POTTER
Since I was at school I wanted to work with children, so when I left I went to Derby Tertiary College Mackworth to train as a Nursery Nurse. I gained my N.N.E.B Diploma in December of 1991.
After qualifying I went to work for Alton Manor Private Day Nursery and then Treetops Private Day Nursery. In 1996 I got married and went to live in Saudi Arabia which is where my husband worked. While living in Saudi Arabia I experienced a very different culture to what I was used to and I had to adapt to this different way of life and respect the countries Muslim beliefs. While there I mixed with lots of expats from all over the world and made many new friends. I had my first daughter Emily in 1997, but our time in Saudi came to an end in 1999. Once settled back in England I was asked to return part time to Treetops, this time I worked as the out of school co-ordinator taking the children to and from school and organising the daily activities. It was during this time I had my second daughter Hannah, born in 2000. I carried on working taking both my children to the nursery with me. I then moved house to live in Ripley and decided to find a job closer to home. At that time Clowns Private Nursery was opening at Butterley Park. I was offered a position as the out of school
co-ordinator and once again I found myself taking children to and from school and running the holiday club. I left Clowns Nursery in 2002 to have my first son Thomas. Since having Thomas I have done supply work at St Johns Primary School Ripley and in the Nursery attached to the school.
I also worked in the school kitchens helping to prepare and serve dinner, where I obtained my Foundation Certificate in Food Hygiene. In 2006 I was wanting to start work on a more permanent basis and so looked into Childminding, I became registered with Ofsted in April 2007.
